I have a friend who has been having a couple of beers every now and then throughout her pregnancy (shes 7 months now)

I keep telling her she should wait til baby is here
she really believes that this is ok,cos her stepmother drank beers AND smoked pot throughout her pregnancy with my friends sister
and her sister is very healthy so she thinks its ''no big deal''

anyone know how bad this is
shes done this about 5X and each time shes had about 3-4

thanks for any info

Well, when she is taking care of her mentally handicapped child, I bet she will wish she didn't drink.

I'm all for drinking, but when you are pregnant it's just something that ONLY low-life hillbillies and morons do.

Drinking Acohol during pregnacy can mess up the baby. This is sad. Try to talk your friend into stoping. Look up info on the web about this and tell her what she found out. Also she is setting a bad example for her other child.

Its her baby so it is her choice but most likely her kid will drink when they grow up.

That is so sad just because her stepmom did it and her baby came out healthy does not gaurantee that her baby will come out fine. She needs to start making more smart decisions it seems to me she is already starting out making bad desicions and the baby is not even born yet....

I don't know exactly how bad it is for the baby but if she can't be responsible during her pregnancy what makes anybody think she is going to be a responsible parent?

Anyone that drinks alcohol or smokes dope while pregnant should be put in jail!!!! What the mom eats, drinks, or smokes goes right to the baby. Mothers are supposed to nourish their babies, not get them drunk or high!!!   Hopefully, her baby will be ok and not have any retardation or developmental problems.

Im no doctor, but I really think she should hold back on the beer if she wants her baby to be healthy, Her sister could have been one in a million if her mom was smoking pot and drinking.

Ive heard that a glass of wine for pregnant women isn't that bad, but beer im not too sure about beer.

Hope this helps

Drinking beer during pregnancy can affect the baby. The baby might have some disorders at birth.

There are so many bad things that can happen if she is drinking while shes pregnant. yeah, her step mom might have been fine, but that doesn't mean she will be. if she cares about her child she will be able to give it up for 2 more months. taking a chance with something that will affect her and her babies life so much is horrible. you need to tell her to stop. It can cause Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, brain damage. tons of different things. here's a website.

Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause a baby to be born with birth defects and have disabilities. These conditions, called fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, or FASDs, are among the top preventable birth defects and developmental disabilities. FASDscan cause problems in how a person grows, learns, looks, and acts. FASDs can also cause birth defects of the heart, brain, and other major organs. These problems last a lifetime.
There is no known amount of alcohol that is safe to drink while pregnant. All drinks with alcohol can hurt an unborn baby. A 12-ounce can of beer has as much alcohol as a 5-ounce glass of wine or a 1-ounce shot of liquor.
There is no safe time to drink during pregnancy. Alcohol can harm a baby at any time during pregnancy. It can cause problems in the early weeks of pregnancy, before a woman even knows she is pregnant.
Too many women think drinking alcohol during pregnancy won

That is incredibly dangerous! Tell her to stop NOW!! There is absolutley NO safe alcohol drinking limit for women who are pregnant. They run an incredibly high risk of causing Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to their children, which affects the physical aspects, as well as mental growth for her child. If she cares about her kid at all, she needs to stop!!!

Your friend is being very selfish. That baby depends on her, she is responsible for that babys health and by her drinking in no way is she doing that baby any favours. She should really stop. Im no doctor but anyone with common sense would know not to drink or smoke - anything during pregnancy.

Ok not to sound like a mom but drinking isn't good period but to do it while ur pregnant exspecially if she did it in her first trimaster can be extremely harmful to ur baby. She may feel like because someone elses child turned out fine hers will to that very untrue. You should look up the effects on drinking while pregnant and show her that her baby could come out deformed.
