Author Topic: my step-dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and liver cancer,  (Read 44 times)

what are the out comes? can he beat it? ? is it a possibility for my step-dad to beat his cancer? he is a level 4 and he starts chemo this week. what are the chances of him over coming it and how long will he live.

I'm so sorry but his chances are not good.  Pancreatic cancer is one of the more difficult ones to battle and if it's spread and is stage 4, it's only possible to treat, not cure.

No, he won't beat it.  Chemo may prolong his life for a year or so, and make him a bit more comfortable - but he will not survive two years.

Sorry to say that his chances are not good - a stage 4 level of cancer of the pancreas and liver usually means he is terminal - even with chemo.  At this point, I would speak to someone in hospice - the doctors want to do chemo because of the money involved - if they just let him be with meds so he can enjoy his remaining time they don't make as much and he will feel better - chemo will most likely not help and will make his remaining time miserable.  Usually cancer of an organ like these - which moves blood throughout the body - is terminal - even if caught early on.  Godspeed.
