Alittle. It helps maintain a close relationship between parent and child, but makes the child aware of the fact that they WILL get a punishment if they do something very bad.

well all it usually took was a look from my mom and i knew my butt was in trouble.. occasionally (when i was a teenager) i would do really bad things and she would smack me upside the head lol it was only a few times of that and i learned that i either shouldn't do the mistakes anymore or learn how not to get caught haha

i did the later of course Wink

yeap, i was. but now that i'm older my mom doesnt really do it that much anymore...but when i was little every time i would here the word pow-pow i would run away to my room.

Yes I was when growing up. Then around age of 6 I developed common sense and was never spanked again.
