such high demand? I am thinking about becoming a dental hygienist and i hear that they are in really high demand, but if they are in such high demand why is it so hard to get into a dental hygiene program in college???

Because dental hygienists are in high demand there are many applicants for a limited number of spots in the program.  When there are more applicants than spots the school will choose the highest ranking candidates. This makes a dental hygiene program more rigorous to gain admission to.
